Editor’s note: This week we’d like to welcome back Crave site member and expert Transformers toy collector Rosemary Ward (aka ‘Screamers’) as our guest blogger.
As I mentioned before, I met Rose at BotCon 2010, the annual Transformers convention put on by the Transformers Collectors Club and Hasbro. She is one of the top Transformers collectors in the country and has developed a wide following on her blog screamer.alt-world.com.
Rose’s collection numbers in the thousands. It covers every Transformer that Hasbro has put out in the U.S., as well as most of the U.K. and Japanese original releases. With her expert Transformers knowledge, we’ve asked her to pick out a favorite Transformer each week and review it here on the Crave blog. Enjoy!
Recently Crave, the Transformers collectors site, asked me to start reviewing the toys listed for sale on their marketplace. I of course took this an an honor and was happy to do so. Did I pick a super rare toy first though? No..I just picked a personal favorite, Classic Series Prowl.
In recent years, Hasbro has treating us G1 fans to a little retro fun with the Transformers Classics! Sure there aren’t any cartoons, which I would love, but they have given us the toys, which look a great deal like their G1 character counterparts. This Prowl happened to be one of my favorites, which you can of course buy right now on Crave!
Classic Prowl is a modern re-creation of the Prowl figure, faithfully keeping his form as a Nissan Z police car while incorporating the detail and articulation technology of current Transformers toys. Like the original toy, he comes with a gun and two shoulder-mounted missile launchers.
The design of the car from which Prowl now claims, the ‘Nissan 350Z’ is similarly to Prowl’s design in IDW Generation 1 comics.
